In the summer of 2017, Sameer joins the Sun Valley Summer Symphony as Associate Conductor. The organization is the largest privately funded, free admission orchestra in the United States, and its musicians come from some of North America's finest ensembles, including the San Francisco Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Houston Symphony, San Diego Symphony, and many others. In this position, Sameer will conduct the orchestra on three programs, assist Music Director Alasdair Neale, present their popular pre-concert Lawn Chats, and work with young musicians at their Summer Music Institute. Sameer will conduct two programs on the San Diego Symphony's 2017-2018 Masterworks Season. He makes his highly anticipated subscription debut leading a program of Liszt's Les Preludes, the world premiere of Adam Schoenberg's Violin Concerto with Anne Akiko Meyers as soloist, and Jean Sibelius's Symphony no. 5 (February 10-11, 2018). He also leads a program featuring a Beyond the Score investigation and performance of Rachmaninoff's Isle of the Dead (February 9, 2018). After one season as Assistant Conductor of the San Diego Symphony, Sameer has received a two-year extension of his contract and has been promoted to Associate Conductor, beginning in the 2016-2017 season. "We are delighted to promote Sameer Patel to the position of Associate Conductor as he has had an incredible impact on our audiences and on our community of San Diego in his tenure as Assistant Conductor of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra," said Martha Gilmer, the Symphony's Chief Executive Officer. "His musical contribution is matched by his hands-on dedication to go to area high schools and work with our students, speaking to students before open rehearsals, and leading the orchestra in concerts that reach a broad public. Sameer will make his subscription debut with the San Diego Symphony during the 2017-2018 season.

Sameer has been recommended by the Accademia Musicale Chigiana and Maestro Daniele Gatti for future guest conducting engagements in Europe, and will return to Italy in September 2016 to lead two programs with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo
Out of more than 120 applications, Sameer is one of only six conductors to participate in the Accademia Musicale Chigiana's masterclass with Daniele Gatti, Chief Conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. As the only American conductor selected for this honor, Sameer will work daily with Maestro Gatti and the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, making his debut with the orchestra on August 12, 2016 at the Teatro dei Rozzi in Siena.

Sameer closes the 2015-2016 Family Festival series with the San Diego Symphony in a performance called Much Ado About Music: Shakespeare and the Symphony. This program commemorates the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death, featuring the music of Mendelssohn, Monteverdi, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Korngold, and Vaughan Williams. The concert also features a side-by-side performance featuring students from three area youth orchestras, as well as dancers from the Civic Youth Ballet and student and professional actors from the San Diego Shakespeare Society. Sameer will lead the San Diego Symphony in a performance of Beethoven's Symphony no. 6, "Pastoral" on February 20th, 2016. This performance is part of a special event on music perception, the mind, and hearing loss. The first half of the program features presentations by renowned researchers Dr. Nina Kraus and Dr. Charles Limb, as well as performances by percussionist Steven Schick, jazz artist Gilbert Castellanos, and the San Diego Symphony String Quartet. On July 10, Sameer debuted as the new Assistant Conductor of the San Diego Symphony with a surprise Comic-Con performance for almost 7,000 Star Wars fans. Partnering with Disney, the concert featured the cast from the newest J.J. Abrams film, the music of John Williams, and film clips from the various Star Wars films. The composer himself made a personal video appearance in which he recognized Sameer by saying the concert was "conducted by the very, very talented Sameer Patel." For more press coverage, click here.

Sameer will return to the Jacksonville Symphony in May for five programs over the course of ten days. This will be his second visit of the 2014-2015 season, and his fourth since working with the orchestra at the League of American Orchestras 2013 National Conductor Preview. On this visit, he will conduct a concert for Jacksonville Symphony donors, a concert featuring The Beach Boys, two outdoor programs, and a concert with Peabo Bryson. Sameer will debut with the Naples Philharmonic at Art-is Naples on May 17, 2014. Sameer has been promoted to Associate Conductor of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, effective in the 2013-14 season. He will continue to lead the orchestra in Education, Family, Pops, and Regional concerts as well as take on an expanded role in engaging audiences in the community.
Sameer has been selected by members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Riccardo Muti as one of ten semi-finalists out of a highly competitive field of 119 applicants from 25 countries to audition for the Second International Chicago Symphony Orchestra Sir Georg Solti Conducting Apprenticeship.
Sameer has been honored by the League of American Orchestras as one of six emerging conductors chosen to lead the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra at the 2013 Bruno Walter National Conductor Preview. This prestigious conducting showcase is scheduled for March 13, 2013.
